" When you don't have community, you are not listened to. You don't have a place you can go to and feel that you really belong. You don't have people to affirm who you are to support you in bringing forward your gifts. This disempowers the psyche, making you vulnerable to consumerism and all the things that come along with it."
Sobonfu Somé, Dagara people West Africa
With that said we realize that community, "true community", is a necessity that we can not afford to live with out. So come out and join in celebration with your community and if you are not yet part of this great community, the African Caribbean Community, become part of it by dancing to the sound of Puerto Rico's oldest living African tradition "La Bomba" with New York City's most Incredible Bomba group Alma Moyo.
We will be celebrating at
Camaradas Bar & Restaurant (115th street & 1st Ave.)
Thursday April 23rd at 9pm. $5
