Ricardo "Papin" Abreu passed away yesterday in his beloved Cuba. One of the true giants of La Rumba, Papin was an inspiration to countless rumberos here in NY during my early years of playing. The photo (courtesy of Fidel's Eyeglasses) is from the cover of an album which features the Grupo Guaguanco Matancero (which came to be known as Los Munequitos) and Los Papines.
