ZON DEL BARRIO

Message from Aurora:

Amigos,

Bienvenidos and welcome to the Barrio Zone where history becomes music and oldskool gets a new beat.

We're ending the summer with a great free outdoor concert in the community where we live and founded ZDB: El Barrio USA. Please join ZDB along with our friends Sammy Ayala & the King of the Cuatro & Fania All-Star legend: YOMO TORO
Sunday, August 31, 2008
Harlem Meer: 110th Street btwn Fifth & Lenox Aves. Inside Central Park
Two shows: 2 & 4 p.m.

We're dedicating this show to Rob Blumenthal who was host to these outdoor concerts for the past 15 years before his untimely death in May. His wish was to celebrate the labor day weekend BIG with an international name such as Yomo's and we'll be there to do just that for you Rob!

Hi,

Not sure where to leave a general comment so I am leaving it here. SORRY...

Just want to say thank you. I am always on Barry's and Mark's blogspot but this one is exactly what I have been waiting for. It makes me happy to see the NY rumberos getting their respect, especially since a lot of these guys are my boys. I actually just met Wille on labor day in Orchard beach. Nice guy, he gave me some good suggestions about treating my skin on my Gon Bop. Tell him I say hi. My name is Jay, I'm the one with 3 boys. Hope he remembers me...
On another note, there is an event you might want to post that is going on in Union City every Sunday. I'm playing there tomorrow with Medina, Matanzas, Diosvany and some of the rest of the NJ rumberos (Raices Habanera guys). The place is called Cucalambe. Its above La Roca supermarket on Bergenline and 45th. Supposed to start at 5p but you know the cubans don't start showing up til later...

Well thanks for the information. Keep up the good work!

Peace,
JAY
